Home Sweet Home?
The Chicago Bears moved their record to 5-2 In domes in the past 2 1/4 years. One of those loses came against the best dome team in the Saints. They are 5-6 on the road during the same period, not playing in domes. Clearly the Bears do seem to play better in domes, highlighted by their recent pounding at the Cowboys. One begs the question, why don't the Bears build a new domed stadium. It's not like they wouldn't be able to find a place in Chicago, and worst case they could just take down Soldier Field. The Bears obviously won't build a dome stadium, yet alone a new stadium, just because their team plays well in them, but it would generate a lot more money. Chicago is one of the coldest places to play in the NFL, and that obviously isn't a very fan friendly environment going to games in below 0 wind chill next to the lake. With a Dome, the Bears would obviously see a rise in attendance. Not only because more fans would want to watch a game in a comfy dome environment, but also because they could seat more people. It should be noted that the 3rd largest city in the country, has the lowest amount of seats available. It just doesn't make sense from a monetising stand point. They could get more attendance, as well as the Dome would help the football team. Plus, if you have been to Soldier Field, you know it has to go, sooner rather than later.
